One Of Those Days….

Posted by Scott on Jul 30, 2010 in Marketing

Yesterday was “One Of Those Days”….. Yep one of those days when everything was freakin awesome!  This session was so much fun.  She’s one of my favorite models to photograph.  We had never done her outdoor session so we got to play for a while yesterday.   This was seriously way more fun than playing the xbox on Thursday!   I love the all American girl look of the truck image… and well the other one with the asphalt machine is just hot!

Life 360

Posted by Scott on Jul 30, 2010 in Marketing

Hehe I had a senior cancel yesterday for a 4 hr session.  Instead of getting mad I played my xbox 360 for 4 hrs straight in the theater on our 12 foot screen and full on surround sound.  What a colossal waste of my time, but damn was it fun!  :)   I haven’t had so much fun playing with myself since I was 12yrs old!  I have so much work to do but some time it’s fun to just say screw-it I’m having fun today!  Two sessions today so no time for playing games….  Unless they cancel…or I cancel them  muhhaaaaaahaaaahhaaaa  :)

Plan B³

Posted by Scott on Jul 27, 2010 in Marketing

OK so your marketing “Plan A” was to print business cards, take pretty pictures, add a website, do some direct mail and get more business than you could handle and retire a multi-millionaire… Yada yada yada…. Well when that didn’t work out maybe you started a “Plan B”?   It’s not just about switching to a “Plan B”    How many things are working at one time to send you business?  How many are producing?  How many of theses “plans” are you changing/modifying to keep up with the times?  Here is my tip for today…. “Change Everything”  some change is good and some change is bad, but everything has to change it’s a law of nature.  Take your Plan B to the power of the third “B³”

Take 10 minutes a day to change something… Start Today With Your New “Plan B³”  :)

Oh Boy….

Posted by Scott on Jul 26, 2010 in Marketing

I’m not sure why but we actually have 3 boy senior sessions in the next two days.   And they are all big sessions too, none of the 30 min mini boy session crap.   I guess if you get enough hot girls hangin around the studio the boys will inevitably start showing up in greater numbers :)

Fudge…..   Yesterday we are all out for a family dinner.  My mom (Shelley and Sally) came down from Chicago and my daughter ”Bailey”  drops the f-bomb in the conversation during dinner at the resturant… Unfortunately for me she was saying an exact “quote” from me word for word… How can you kill your children in public when they are only quoting you in front of your mother???  Damn…. she found a loop hole in the parent-child grounding and punishment etiquette.   Anyway I guess I have to ground my self….  I really want to be sent to my room for a day with no telephone… OMG wouldn’t that be great???     Geeze the one time I get a quote credit in public and it’s that….  Nice!  FYI she was quoting me coming up the stairs at home after a long run on the treadmill, every step was Oh crap, oh shit, oh $#@ and we have 20 steps ( I counted) and each and everyone was very painful!

Senior Pictures

Posted by Scott on Jul 23, 2010 in Marketing

Not the manufactures intended use again.  Here I am again using that ring light from www.myringlight.com ($250) minus the 10% “crosby10″ discount code.  This is so not the way to use a ringlight, but damn does it make a  cool edgy light!  Oh my God I love it!!!

Google Check Please

Posted by Scott on Jul 20, 2010 in Marketing

Do me a favor and do a google search for senior pictures.   Let me know if you see my website on page 1 and where it is in order if it is there.   I know google can rank things locally… I have that turned off but it seems like maybe it’s back on because of what I’m seeing from here.

Mayday-Mayday-Mayday

Posted by Scott on Jul 20, 2010 in Marketing

As if I didn’t have enough crap going on right now, both of my blogs were down this morning…. I was in a panic!!!

I’m glad it’s fixed. We have rain in the forecast again today and actually every day this week. That sucks!

We have model applications pouring in like crazy, I don’t know when I’m going to be able to get to them but school starts in 3 weeks and my schedule shows it :) I’ll have some time then to deal with the applications.

The phone rang a lot yesterday with sr pix inquiries, I think since people are realizing that school is starting back up soon it’s time to call and get senior pics set up! Good bye summer is almost here…

Google-Internet SEO is working great on getting the phone to ring, two calls yesterday were from far away that found us on the Internet. Free advertising online with your website 24-7

Our new model program in “SICK”…. Off the charts crazy! I can’t wait to start pitching it to the new applicants. We are changing it up so much this year. We have to compete with others in our area that are running our program so we really stepped it up with some crazy fresh ideas! We already offer a lot that others don’t but this next year is going to be dope! :) events, trips, referral bonuses, awesome prizes and rewards, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! We have some radical changes in store for this year. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!

Fairly Depressing…

Posted by Scott on Jul 19, 2010 in Marketing

Well, the first day it rained like a mutha %$)@er!!! I mean like torrential downpours and it really kept the fair attendance down.  Good news is that I got 2 model applications in directly from the fair last night.  As much as I planned on being at the booth all day I did leave my daughter and one of our models there to work it for the last 1/2 of the day.  I had a lot of crap to get done at the studio so I took advantage of the slow time to work my butt off over here.  I’m getting ready for day 2 right now.  No rain today, but since it’s Monday it will be slow up until about 5:00pm.    We are the only photographer there this year.  One year there were 4 photographers with booths at the fair.  I guess we have run them all off!  :)    I can’t blame them really LOL

It’s nice to talk to our clients in person and see old clients.  I was on top of my name game yesterday remembering their names when they walked up.  Several of them were really startled that I remembered their names and their kids names.  I can’t remember what Kelly told me to do 5 min ago, but I can remember a clients name from 5 years ago???  I’m not sure if it’s a gift or a curse!!!   Any yesterday we collected almost 100 names data for potential clients.  We are having a drawing for a $500 studio gift card.  We are not the aggressive type of fair booth we don’t bother people when they are walking by obviously trying to avoid us because they are not interested in us…. Unlike the cookware guy in the booth next to us that tries to talk to everyone, even the ones ignoring him, as he tries to talk louder still sputtering out shit to people running from his annoying pots and pans sales pitch crap…..  Oh God I want to kill him!!!!   I hate vendors like that!!  Seriously he’s bringing down my game!!  People run by our booth just to not have to deal with him!!    Anyway I have a bunch of stuff to do before I head out to the fair today…. See Ya :)

And it begins

Posted by Scott on Jul 18, 2010 in Marketing

It’s a fairly hot day for our first day of the fair… Which is a good thing because we are indoors in a/c and that will raise our foot traffic as people come in to cool off.

Our best call to action offer ever is a $150 off any collection purchase. We usually do session fee discounts so this is a different approach for us and I hope the dollar amount will sound better, even though it’s not really always the case. Worst case cenario a 30 min child session is $100 session fee and min collection purchase $369 = $469-150 $319 for 30 min session, so it’s not all bad for 1-8×10, 6-5×7′s, and 24 wallets from up to 3 poses.

Can you look too expensive? In today’s economy could you hurt yourself by looking or simply having the reputation of being the best and most expensive? I thought that is an interesting question.
